
Weather-wise, March is supposed to be a very nice month for all types of activities in Taiwan. Not to mention dining or even just having a drink outside, in the open air. Taipei has not yet developed an area along a waterfront or in a nice park where this can be done. I hope this will change soon.
Look at other cities in the region, such as Manila, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Hong Kong and Macau: more or less the same climate and with many outdoor venues in nice surroundings.
As non-smoking restrictions have been put into place here in Taiwan, more restaurants have created an area outside for people to smoke, which might help increase the interest in outdoor dining. To warm up to this new idea, Taipei restaurants might start using folding doors that can be opened up and let guests start enjoying fresh-air dining.
